The Adventure System

Adventure System
The main system used here on ODA, is the adventure system. It focuses on allowing members to grow in their own way and hopefully with little to no limitations. Role playing in itself is supposed to be fun and creative and this system was created to meet that standard.
Members are given an initial description of the adventure, a description as in the location on the island, non playable characters (NPCs), the objective of the adventure, the risks, the time of day, the animals, the colour of the grass, basically a general description of the setting you’re in. The setting can come Aafter or before the first post. Therefore, if a member starts a thread, the staff or yours truly will reply with a setting or the staff can start a setting thread and any member can join it.
The Adventure System mechanics: Members are free to do what ever they want in that thread, win, lose, draw, it’s up to the member(s). Create the story you want to immerse your character in, though be warned if your actions violate the power playing guidelines there will be penalties. Previously, members were advised to not make up their own items in their Settings, now they may! Keep note though, that the staff chooses your rewards based on your writing, if you make up a sword, ship and house you might only get one in your reward.
Along with the Setting comes a PC number (Post Count), this determines how many posts a member must make to finish the Setting. [0/10] Means that a member must make ten posts before the staff gives them a reward or even looks over their role play, the PC count is per member so if another member chooses to join the Setting half way through they must also make a PC of 10.
To grow and learn here, members can also make their own role plays, Solo Role Plays, to gain items and rewards. However there is a big difference, no NPCs are allowed to be used, the member MUST follow the base Setting of the island they are role playing on, and last and most important, the member must understand their limitations. What that means is: a member can make a thread in Kokoyashi Island and role play on their own training or fishing, however if said member decides to rampage around the island destroying everything there will be serious consequences.
The last way to grow on ODA is to role play with others. This is hoped to be the most common style of role play here, it can be a mix of Settings and Self Role Plays. Members can team up against a Setting and conquer it together or against each other or they can interact with one another on their own. Both ways yield possible rewards and items, but the most important goal is for that the members grow and learn from one another and enjoy their role plays.
Anime Characters
Anime Characters (ACs) can be requested to use in a Setting or may appear in an event. The same rules apply, members are in complete control of available ACs, members can not attack other members with ACs, and ACs can only be used if they appear in that Setting.
However there are some notes to take to heart;
-Every AC has their own personal agenda, changing that agenda will result in penalties. -ACs can not be recruited. -There occasionally might be a list of techniques available for that AC within the Setting, use of unlisted techniques and/or member made techniques will result in penalties. -All ACs are available for request. -When playing as an AC do not stray from their personality, or there will be penalties. –Formerly members were required to use an AC in every post, that is now obsolete, if a member wants to role play with others but not use an AC that is present in a thread, then its fine, no one is going to force members to play as a character they don’t want to.
Solo Role Play/Interacting Role Play (Setting)
-Members can control how the enemies or any other part of the setting affects them. However, a member can not direct attacks/actions from anything in the setting at other members. - DO NOT control other characters! The exception however being that you receive permission from the other character's owner to control their character, and in which case you should leave a small OOC (Out of Character) comment stating they gave you permission. Outside of this situation, DO NOT USE OOC UNLESS ABSOLUTELY NECESARY! -Members MUST share control of setting characters (ACs included) and objects. -Both members must complete their own PC, no sharing. Even during Events. If there is a PC of [0/10] both members must make their own PC therefore making a total of [0/20] if there are two members. [0/30] for three members etc.
Self Role Play/Interacting Role Play (No Setting)
-When role playing with yourself or without a Setting keep in mind the story of the Island you are role playing on. -Strictly no NPC usage. -Know your limitations and the consequences of your actions.
Summary:
-Adventure Settings can come after a member’s post or can be the first post in a thread. -All elements within a Setting (i.e. characters, animals, buildings, objects) are free to be used by members, but must be shared. Remember to stay in character. -Anything within a setting can not be directed at one member from another. (i.e. Ray sends monster to attack Usopp.) -Completing an objective can be easy or hard, however the quality of the role play effects the rewards given at the end of the adventure. -All members present in a Setting must finish their own PC to complete the adventure, exceeding PC is fine. -ACs are available as NPCs at member’s request. -ACs cannot be used to attack/or be directed at other members. -ACs cannot be recruited. -Do not change the personality of any ACs. -You must share control of NPCs and ACs if there are multiple members in a Setting. -DO NOT SPEAK OUT OF CHARACTER! (NO OCC!)
Rewards After each adventure rewards are given out based on the quality of your content. The rewards vary, but if you put emphasis on something in your adventure it might be given to you. There is a free technique reward after the first seven setting role plays. Therefore a member can have a total of 10 Techniques then will have to earn more as standard rewards from then on.
Example
Luffy finishes his seventh Setting with a PC of [7/7] He gains 1 technique and can ask the staff to approve it. Luffy now has a total of 10 techniques. This can be done once after each Setting.
Luffy finishes his eighth Setting with a PC of [10/5] the role play was good. The staff did not approve his technique because they did not list it as a reward.
Luffy finishes his ninth, tenth and eleventh Setting each with a PC of [10/10]. The staff give him 1 technique as a reward. Luffy now has 11 techniques total.
Therefore, upon completing seven Settings, techniques are no longer free. Techniques become rewards that must be earned.
Items are usually made up by the staff, they can be various amounts of berri, weapons, or even impractical things. The value, quality and amount of items correlates to the content of a member’s adventure.
Aside from item and technique based rewards there is an added feature for members that have reached the title of Renowned Explorer. (I won't tell you the post count) From then on, members can change their title after they have completed an adventure! Therefore if you wanted. 'The Demon Captain' then after becoming a Renowned Explorer I will change your title on request! You can change as many times as you want!
Examples of Rewards Boats Invitations Log Poses Eternal Poses Bounties Ranks (Marines and Soldiers) Techniques Titles (After becoming a Renowned Explorer) Home Base (On an Island) Devil Fruits Dials Sea Stones Allies Pets Social Status
Examples of items
Swords Guns Armour Gadgets Cloths Junk Money
Summary
-Rewards are normally given out to help your character grow. -You get 1 free technique for every Setting completed. There are only 7 free techniques per member. -After 7 Settings members must earn Techniques as rewards. -Items are rewards for a good role play.
Allies and Pets NPC Allies and Pets are given as rewards there is no other way to gain them!
Need to know: -Can only be controlled by the member that they are affiliated to. -Can have as many techniques as members want. -Are not limited in number, a member can have an infinite number of allies. -Need to be kept in character. -Are briefly described by the member in the Adventure Log, include all techniques in the mini profile. -Do not count to the 10 crew limit. -Can be called as much as you like in Settings -Cannot be called in an event. -Cannot attack other members. -Are never Anime Characters. -Can have Devil Fruits. -Can have Bounties, but risk losing it if caught.

Rewards and items

Home Base
If you want a Home Base for your group then you will have to earn it as a reward. Here are the guidelines.
-A Home Base CAN NOT be in enemy territory. A Pirate cannot make a Base on a Marine controlled Island without consequences. Like wise for a Marine, they cannot make a Base in the Lair Syndicate. Bounty Hunter or other professions can have a Home Base anywhere. -Allies and Pets can be left in the Home Base. -If a Home Base is damaged then it must be repaired. -If a Home Base does not have enough room for the entire group of members that live in it then either they must upgrade it or find another Home Base. -A Ship and Home Base is basically the same thing.
Villains
Members are not alone in the oceans! There are villains that roam about! Don’t confuse these guys for the enemies in the setting, these villains are strong and staff controlled. Unlike the members’ character the villains have an array of techniques and items at their disposal. Their goals is to hinder the adventures of the members and will stop them from filling out their own agendas. These villains also are completely separate from the adventure system, which means members cannot control these characters! On top of that, the villains can also travel in between any Blue! No one is safe!
-Villains are unbelievably strong. -Villains cannot be controlled by members. -Villains can travel in between Blues.
Events
Pay close attention to these rules because if you break them then it will lead to disqualification.
1) All Adventure Settings and Event knowledge does not come into play unless the Adventure Settings are locked or the Event is officially closed. This keeps inconsistencies and avoids powerplaying of All Seeing Eye. So Adventure Settings made during an Event or vice versa cannot have the elements from either within the role plays if the opposing is not complete.
2) In relation with rule 1, rewards, techniques, items from threads completed during an Event, (Ie Event started while Adventure Setting was unfinished, then before Event ends Adventure Setting is finished), do not come into the Event. Therefore if Luffy learns Gomu Gomu no Gattling during the time an Event is taking place, he can not use it in his current Adventure Setting. This also applies vice versa, techniques and items from completed Events don't apply to unfinished Adventure Settings.
3) Only role play within the Event Settings, do not make new threads (unless specified) and do not post in other boards unless it's part of the Event.
4) Absolutely no speaking OOC to tea mmates, opponents or anyone for that matter. If you must tell one another something speak in the In Character Appreciation board or send a PM. NO OCCING at all.
5) Rewards from Events are given based on performance. The 'each setting get a reward' rule does not apply in Events. Therefore if there are 5 Settings and you are only awarded 3 techniques or 1 item, it was because your role play wasn't elaborate enough or you broke a rule.
6) Unless specified, no late entries. If you miss the dead line, you're not in the event.
7) If there is a Post Order (PO) assigned by the Event Host follow it! Therefore by no means break PO, if the Host does not say 'there is a PO' or 'make your own PO' then there is no need to worry about this rule. (Example, some events don't need Post Order)
8) Techniques are not free in Events even if you haven’t finished 10 Settings. You earn techniques as rewards in events.
9) Enjoy all events and if there are any suggestions leave a post in the Suggestion and Questions board.
